Assignments are made of real drills — beats, fills, exercises, and the metronome timing drills, the same ones every DrumShed drummer practices with. Write the exercise yourself in the builders, reuse something from your own library, or pull straight from the DrumShed catalog.

Every item carries the instruction you would otherwise give twice a lesson and then again by text. Set it once and it travels with the work.

• Learn mode or Play mode, a starting tempo and a target tempo, duration or a rep count
• The objective and the focus in your words — what this is for, what to listen for
• Self-check prompts on each day: a specific, answerable question, with the student calling the pass
• Attach a video — you playing it, or the record it came from — per day or per item

Pick the students, add the message, set the date. You see each student’s current load before you confirm, so you are not stacking a second week onto someone already behind.

• They get a push and an inbox row, with your note attached to the work itself
• The student picks which weekdays they actually practice; the app projects the finish date
• If that projection lands past your due date it says so and offers the fix — add a Wednesday — rather than letting them find out in week three
• Edit an assignment and they see it changed; pull one and it pauses, it never deletes what they already did

Between-lesson practice stops being a story you get told. The roster shows what ran, which day, and at what tempo — sorted so whoever needs you is at the top.

• Per day and per item: passed, repeating, or skipped, with attempt counts and the tempo they got to
• Step-downs are visible too — the day something was too fast is usually the lesson
• It reports what happened, never a verdict on how it sounded; the judgment stays yours
• Scoped on purpose: assigned work only. Their own patterns, their own practice, their own history stay theirs

The fill that keeps collapsing does not have to wait six days. The student records it and sends it; you answer from wherever you are — and it threads under the assignment, so the exchange stays attached to the work it is about.
